My Bio

I have collected antique fishing tackle and related items for over thirty years, have occasionally written for the NFLCC Gazette and am the former Paraphernalia Editor for the now defunct Fishing Collectibles Magazine.

My primary collecting interests are the angling art of Ralph Ludwig Boyer, early fly tying vises made of brass & steel and "vest pocket collectibles" ...a term I coined during my tenure at Fishing Collectibles Magazine.

Here are a few of my favorite toys ....

^ A pair of 2.5" Heaton reels. Cooler than cool. I want more !

^ 2.75" Dingley reel marked "JJS Walker Bampton & Co., Makers"

^ 2006 MCS (Supercharged). The perfect solution for mid-life crisis.

^ Panerai 111g and a Circa 1870 F. vom Hofe. Both manual wind.

^ Brass dry fly oil bottle from the estate of Harry Darbee. Serial #5.

My Occupation

I am a partner with Design Installations of Norwalk, CT, a custom design/build firm specializing in multi-room audio systems, home theatres, lighting control, motorized shades and residential systems integration. While home theatres are the latest craze, we've been perfecting the craft since 1984.

I have been in the industry since 1976 and consider myself an incurable audio nut. I don't own an iPod and prefer records to CDs. I am as nostalgic and enthusiastic about vintage audio equipment as I am old fishing tackle.

Need audio equipment ?

I will trade brand new audio equipment for antique fishing tackle !

My Hobbies

Collecting old fishing tackle, audiophilia, wristwatches, red wine, target archery and detailing my Cooper.

While not exactly a hobby, I also clean (not restore) old reels. Here are before and after shots of a Marbleized Leonard that I spiffed up quite nicely...

If you have a high quality reel in need of a serious bath, send me some pictures and I'll let you know if I can help you.
